Invisible Boundary by La Dolce Vita

Invisible Boundary is an apartment in Taichung, Taiwan, by La Dolce Vita, shaped around the idea that form can stay open without losing intimacy. The residence softens partitions with arches, sliding thresholds, and broad windows, letting light, air, and movement set the pace. Material choices and measured detailing give the home a calm, layered character that supports both privacy and connection.

About Invisible Boundary

“Invisible Boundary” serves as the core philosophy of this project, drawing inspiration from the Eastern wisdom that “a great figure has no form.”

The design blurs spatial divisions to let circulation, light, and air move with ease. Rather than relying on rigid partitions, it uses architectural gestures to guide natural light and shape a range of moods, turning the apartment into an intuitive setting for daily life. The result is a home that supports both closeness and solitude, while giving residents the freedom to adjust boundaries as needs change.

Warmth and privacy are balanced through layered spatial organization. Expansive windows bring in daylight, while arched frames filter it through curtains and curves, creating a soft, rhythmic glow. Doors are treated as transitions rather than fixed separations: a magnetic sliding door links the living and dining areas, and a pivot door divides the living room from the gym so the boundary can shift between openness and retreat.

The entry sets that tone immediately. Paired columns create a gesture of welcome, easing the corridor’s linearity and offering a brief moment of pause before the interior opens up. The master bathroom extends the arch motif, forming a cocoon of calm and intimacy.

Material choices reinforce that sense of balance. French cabinetry flows into the wall surfaces, while curated lighting and refined detailing add depth and texture. The clients and the studio traveled to Milan to source materials carefully, pairing hard finishes with soft furnishings so structure and atmosphere stay in dialogue.

Through these invisible boundaries, La Dolce Vita blends Eastern and Western references into a home shaped by restraint and presence. Stillness and movement coexist here, tracking the rhythm of everyday life without forcing it into fixed edges.
