Description by Felipe Assadi + Francisca Pulido Architects
Twelve individual lodges inspired by traditional Patagonian outposts make up this remote retreat designed by Chilean architect Felipe Assadi.
Built with local lenga wood and spanning 80 square meters (860 sq ft) each lodge has a separate living room, wood burning stove, hot tub and large windows showcasing the iconic Torres del Paine mountain range. Planked wooden floors, walls and ceilings mimic the surrounding native forest which provides shelter from the notorious Patagonian winds. Large blue armchairs, woollen throws and plaid cushions soften the interiors whilst multiple windows frame the view of the granite towers and Lake Sarmiento. Stretching out from the communal area with its living area, bar and dining room, the lodges were designed to be as discreet and invisible as possible, to blend into a reserve inhabited only by guanaco (Patagonian llamas), Darwin’s Rheas, foxes, condors and pumas. Just 20-minutes from the gateway to Torres del Paine National Park, each lodge has a dedicated 4WD and private guide at its disposal.
Awasi Patagonia is situated inside a private reserve neighboring the Torres del Paine National Park, from where you can enjoy imposing views of the Torres del Paine peaks and Lake Sarmiento. The chosen location is protected from the strong Patagonian winds by a luxuriant native forest of local species of beeches called lengas and ñirres.
The indigenous fauna remains intact in these forests and plains, where there are sightings of guanacos, ñandús (rheas), foxes, condors and, occasionally, pumas.
The strategic location of Awasi Patagonia invites you to enjoy the Torres del Paine National Park from the privacy of our lodge.
Inspired by old Patagonian shelters and ranching outposts, we have built only twelve villas (one of them with two suites) in our private reserve. These are distributed in such a way as to ensure the utmost privacy and also offer the best views of the forest, Lake Sarmiento, the pampas and Torres del Paine.
A few meters away from the villas are the common areas overlooking the majestic scenery. The main house includes the restaurant, reception desk and comfortable lounges.
Protecting the environment and surroundings, our buildings are made of local procured wood, allowing the structures to blend into the incomparable natural landscape.
Masterplan
Protected by the forest, the villas overlook Torres del Paine and Lake Sarmiento and are distributed along paths that are connected to the Main House. Our guests can either walk along the paths or ask the reception desk to provide transportation via small vehicles.
Each one of the villas has different characteristics than the other such as; their views, path slope, distance from the common areas (between 50 and 400 meters away), etc.
Our personal reservations assistant can advise you on which is the ideal villa, based on your own personal preferences and physical condition.
