Brahminy House Design and Inspiration

HGA Studio designed the Brahminy House, a contemporary residence in Byron Bay, Australia, completed in 2022. Perched above Wategos Beach, this house is inspired by two Brahminy kites nesting nearby and serves as a portal to the ocean to the north and the native heath behind.
Sleek, mid-century modern living space with wooden beams, floating shelves, and minimalist furniture.

Materials and Aesthetic

It has a palette of spotted gum hardwood and terracotta tones that envelop occupants in the coastal environment. This material choice helps the house subtly blend into its natural surroundings, enhancing the overall experience of residing there.

Outdoor Spaces and Amenities

At the back, the heath hugs a private sanctuary featuring pools, wellness, and gathering spaces, offering a truly immersive experience in nature. These elements not only provide relaxation and recreation opportunities but also strengthen the connection between indoor and outdoor living, a fundamental aspect of this coastal retreat.
