Casa Ottanio is an apartment in Milano, Italy, refurbished by Nomade Architettura Interior design in 2024. The project involved a complete renovation aimed at reviving and modernising historical details. The result is a carefully crafted space that balances old and new elements.

Renovation of historical details

Nomade Architettura Interior design completed the renovation of Casa Ottanio in Milan, Italy, bringing a 1950s apartment back to life by reviving historic details and mixing them with modern elements.

The project involved a complete renovation, with the aim of preserving and enhancing the apartment’s original charm. The design team reinterpreted the classic details, infusing them with contemporary touches to create a unique and elegant living space.

Sophisticated wood and customized gates

The apartment’s exquisite entrance is adorned with intricately carved woodwork and moldings, setting a sophisticated tone throughout the house. This entrance acts as a focal point, with custom iron and glass gates leading to the kitchen and living room.

The kitchen is intimate and welcoming, characterized by a meticulous combination of colors and a personalized space for quick meals. This design choice introduces an unexpected chromatic touch that gives the space character.

At the other end of the apartment, the living room is organized around a large dining table illuminated by the Brass lamp by Gervasoni. A symmetrical double bookcase frames the sofas, adding a contemporary touch to the interior.

Hidden bathroom and unique master suite

The wood-paneled wall of the entrance hides a small bathroom with green Fornasetti wallpaper and a door leading to the bedroom. The night corridor houses two guest bedrooms and culminates in the master suite.

The master suite has a spacious bedroom and a bathroom with a unique design. The unexpected use of travertine is combined with a custom design that turns the sink into a bathtub, complemented by a large shower.

The entire renovation features elegant details and finishes, bringing the apartment’s original splendor back to life. Harmoniously combining tradition and modernity, the refurbishment gives the spaces a new lease of life, perfectly fusing the old and the new.
