Light slides across dark wood underfoot, tracing the grain as it reaches a low stone hearth. Think warmth and restraint: wood, stone, and steel.

This is an apartment in Neuilly-sur-Seine by KATZ Studio, arranged for a music lover and built around measured tactility. The sequence privileges material character and a composed mood, with smoked eucalyptus, travertine, and linen guiding how each room looks and feels.

Tune The Living Room

The living room centers on a stone fireplace that quietly grounds the composition. A modular ecru sofa tracks the run of wide windows, with sheer linen curtains softening daylight and easing contrast. Volumes play off each other: a striped sculptural armchair with a spherical ottoman counters a faded rose bouclé seat, while a rounded solid-wood table gathers the arrangement. Underfoot, dark wood flooring deepens the intimate, anchored feel.

Craft The Music Bar

A custom bar and listening corner forms the apartment’s signature move in smoked eucalyptus, its vertical slats setting a gentle rhythm. The built-in library holds vinyl, books, and small artworks—a place to cue records — not just stash them. A minimalist raw steel divider frames the nook without shutting it down, and sculpted wooden stools along the counter invite slow conversation between tracks.

Contrast In The Kitchen

In the kitchen, contrast carries the tone. Smoked eucalyptus fronts meet deep burgundy lacquer, while a travertine countertop softens edges with pale, open grain. A marble dining table, chosen for distinctive veining, adds quiet gravitas, and vintage chairs with clean curves keep the setting light and legible. The palette reads crisp, the touchpoints feel durable.

Dining With Art

The dining room extends the living area’s hush, with long diaphanous curtains filtering light across darker timber. A vintage table with matched chairs holds the center, while art punctuates the calm with energy and color (a sculptural light overhead sets the tempo). Graphic references nod to minimalist clarity and architectural order, tying the room back to the home’s measured cadence.

Rest With Texture

The main bedroom leans into warm tones and soft, enveloping finishes. A custom walnut dresser rounds its corners, echoing the project’s gentle geometry, while a vintage lounge chair with a glossy shell and brown leather brings period character. Textiles stay quiet and tactile so the room settles at dusk with a steady, calm presence.

Light returns to the hearth by evening, sliding across timber and stone as records spin. Materials carry the mood, and the rooms hold their shape with ease. The apartment reads as one composed score, built to endure the day-to-night rhythm of listening, gathering, and rest.
