Miller Hull Partnership has designed Matt’s Place 2.0 in Spokane, WA, United States, a house that “pushes the boundaries of accessible design” for those with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The prefabricated mass timber prototype has a main-floor suite and incorporates home control systems that can be operated solely by the occupant’s eye movements. It is part of a partnership between Miller Hull and the Matt’s Place Foundation, devoted to dignity for ALS sufferers.
The clients presented an extremely narrow site in Thiruvanthapuram, India as part of their design brief. The resultant Narrow Brick House, designed by Srijit Srinivas Architects in 2022, features a house with a generous 117 sq.m. of built-up area on the elongated 283 sq.m. site. The light-touch minimalist approach also finds expression in the various interior design elements like wardrobes, shelving, fenestrations etc– all pared back to the bare minimum required.
Located in Brasília, Brazil, the Trees House was designed in 2024 by the Hersen Mendes Arquitetura firm. The house integrates with nature by incorporating elements such as suspended studios and tree-shaped pillars into the design. Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright, the project features fluid, organic spaces that use local materials and prioritize sheltering the interior while maintaining a connection to the surrounding Brazilian Cerrado landscape.
Located in Malibu, California, United States, Highway House was designed by Vertebrae as a house. Inspired by the Santa Monica Mountains, the property features four structures, including the primary building and guest suite framing a central courtyard, as well as a pool house and sauna. The project, completed in 2024, offers contemporary, minimalist architecture rooted in climate response, community engagement, and environmentally conscious design practices.

Bivacco Brédy is an innovative cabin located in the mountains of Italy by BCW Collective, designed in 2021. The structure is a memorial to Claudio Brédy, an alpinist who tragically lost his life in a climbing accident, symbolizing landscape appreciation and the alpine quality of his life. It features a welcoming interior, with wood panelling and climbing cord bunks, that connects to the stunning views of surrounding mountain peaks.
