Developed by Loft Buro and sponsored by the Dmytro Borisov Family of Restaurants, this gastronomic and artistic space is a modern interpretation of a Ukrainian design identity that pays homage to the city’s 72-year period as part of the Soviet Union.

This Edwardian terrace in Muswell Hill, London, has been expertly refurbished by Ben Ridley, Director at Architecture for London, to reduce energy requirements and create a comfortable, low energy house.

Triple glazing and improved airtightness and insulation of the building envelope, as well as a 172mm SIPS (6.77in) rear extension with highly insulated materials, have achieved a Passivhaus standard U-value of 0.15 or better (1.59 W/m2K). Further, natural materials like stone, timber and lime plaster were used throughout, and a Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery (MVHR) system was installed to provide pre-heated fresh air and filter the incoming air for a healthy indoor environment.

On the shores of Seattle’s Lake Washington, SHED Architecture & Design created a family compound with a carefully designed solution to bring together an old and new structure.

For the primary residence, SHED remodeled the existing house and added new decks to extend the living space outdoors. The boathouse and guest quarters offer a small refuge for reflection, boat storage, and a garage, all while anchoring the west side of the property. The exterior is formed on white brick walls, with a darker volume clad in Japanese cypress and metal paneling. With its beautiful views and cozy interiors, this family compound is sure to become a beloved home for years to come.

From two-star Michelin Chef José Andrés, comes Zaytinya, a luxurious restaurant located in the Ritz Carlton, New York. Designed by Rockwell Group, the 140-cover space celebrates Mediterranean culture with bright blues, warm bronzes, white oak woods and specially commissioned artwork.

Architectural finishes have been kept as a neutral base to offset these elements of texture and pattern found in the upholstered banquettes and at the bar. Rich and undulating curves, an assortment of textures, and a custom mural of a meandering Mediterranean landscape all come together to transport guests to an oasis of the coast.
