Memories of a childhood spent among the stone farmhouses and olives groves of the Bouche-du-Rhone are the inspiration behind this home for a family with country French roots but a decidedly modern design aesthetic. The exterior is clad entirely in buff-hued mortar and stone, with antique terra cotta roof tile. Inside, the crisp, clean forms are enhanced by minimalist light-capturing steel frame windows and doors, recycled oak floors, and a French limestone spine. Heavy recycled beams add scale and texture. The steel railing on the staircase is crimped with musical notes from a Satie composition.
