About Kazerne Hotel
Unveiling Kazerne: A Fusion of Art and Hospitality
Initiated by Annemoon Geurts & Koen Rijnbeek, the Kazerne concept embodies Eindhoven’s artistic essence. Collaborating with Dutch design luminaries such as Maarten Baas and Studio Drift, this duo seamlessly integrated a museum ambiance into a hotel. Thanks to esteemed curators like Lidewij Edelkoort, the space continually transforms with fresh exhibitions. Alongside this, timeless design elements facilitate enduring connections among guests. “At Kazerne, design consistently reshapes our daily world,” Geurts passionately notes.
Architectural Symphonies: Where Past Meets Future
Joining forces, Moon/en/co and Van Helmond Architecten embarked on a monumental journey. Their challenge? To harmoniously blend heritage buildings, the oldest hailing from 1825, into a modern masterpiece. While preserving history, they introduced innovative elements, readying Kazerne for a new era. This fusion showcases hospitality’s evolution, juxtaposing exclusivity with approachability. Within, stark contrasts play out, as elements of light and dark, matte and glossy, coexist. Moreover, renowned artists like Kiki van Eijk leave their distinctive mark.
Rooms span from the intimate 15 square meter (161 square feet) Hidden Room to the expansive 140 square meter (1,507 square feet) Penthouse Loft. Each space, uniquely designed, tells its own tale. For instance, the Hay Loft offers original beams and quaint courtyard views, while the Corner Duplex, formerly a barrack, houses a historic pantry. Additionally, regular art rotations, inspired by Dutch trailblazers, infuse dynamism.
Gastronomic Elegance: Embarking on a Culinary Expedition
At Kazerne, culinary prowess intertwines beautifully with design. The Bar/Restaurant Kazerne, set in an industrial milieu, serves hearty, vegetable-driven Italian fare. Conversely, Restaurant Benz provides a Nordic-inspired, intimate dining experience helmed by the talented Swedish Chef Rasmus Olander. Central to both eateries are open-plan kitchens, which foster storytelling and community interaction. Bridging these spaces is a serene central courtyard—a tranquil retreat amid Eindhoven’s urban landscape. Accentuated by Joost van Bleiswijk’s creations, it beckons visitors.
For Kazerne loyalists, a coveted membership unlocks access to the exclusive Members Club. Perched atop the coach house, this enclave serves as a gathering space, sparking conversations among art enthusiasts and culinary connoisseurs.
