About 432 Park Ave
A New Perspective on Model Apartments
“Model apartments often seem generic and staged,” she began. “However, this particular address captured my interest.”
Crafted by Uruguayan architect Viñoly, the building, completed in 2015, reaches an astounding 1,396 feet (426 metres). Consequently, it stands as the tallest residential tower in the western hemisphere. Inside, residents enjoy a 75-foot (22.9 meters) swimming pool, a mahogany-clad conference room, and, additionally, an intimate 18-seat cinema.
Designing for Heights
Due to the apartment’s impressive elevation, Behun aimed for comfort. Therefore, a rich-toned floor was chosen for the living space. “Among the floor color choices,” she revealed, “we naturally opted for the deepest shade, believing it would offer residents a feeling of being grounded.”
Looking out, the vast cityscape is framed by square windows. Inspired by this, Behun commented, “There’s a distinct purity in these square-framed vistas. Accordingly, we mirrored the hues of the city inside.”
Thoughtfully, Behun selected furnishings from New York-based creators. Meanwhile, Artsy sourced the artwork, with each piece available for purchase. Particularly striking is a plaster artwork by Yolande Batteau, which graces the fireplace wall, intertwined with gold Art Deco lines.
Two guest bedrooms contrast in style: one embraces light, while the other delves into a rich blue. On the other hand, the master suite, awash in gentle hues, spotlights a 20-foot (six-meter) headboard, reminiscent of Frank Stella’s minimalist touch.
For relaxation, envision soaking in a sculptural bathtub, with the metropolis unfolding beneath you. This experience, though seemingly dreamlike, is a reality here.

NYC’s Penthouse Panorama
In New York, penthouses often command jaw-dropping prices. For instance, the crown jewel of Viñoly’s masterpiece sold for $87.7 million. In contrast, atop Zaha Hadid’s High Line-adjacent marvel, the asking price stands at $50 million.
Elsewhere in the city, unique penthouses feature amenities like a four-story spiral slide or even a car elevator, thanks to the visionary design of MVRDV.
