About Pillar Talk
The Charm of Californian Bungalows
What’s the standout feature of Californian Bungalows? Undoubtedly, it’s the pillars supporting the front veranda. Not just any pillars, though. Sometimes they’re ornate and twisted. However, in this particular case, they resemble angular, elongated pyramids with chopped tops. Such unique geometry inspired our subsequent architectural choices.
A Roof Design Inspired by Pillars
Drawing from these pillars, the rear roof showcases our innovative thinking. Instead of a mundane design, we chose an extruded rectangle. Then, we added two sculpted peak roof forms. Why? To introduce internal vaulted ceilings crowned with skylights.
Bathing in Natural Light
Skylights don’t just serve a functional purpose. They drench the rooms in natural light, boosting morale and joy.
A Palette to Enchant
Furthermore, a color palette of peach, yellow, and black catches the eye. These splashes of color pop in a dominantly white space, while hints of feature timber add warmth and contrast. In short, this space exudes an understated charm and delight.
