Blue Pepper: Bucharest’s Modern Duplex Transformation

Discover “Blue Pepper“: a duplex apartment in Bucharest’s vibrant northern district, reborn through Jooca Studio‘s vision in 2023.

In seeking alignment with the client’s identity, the space underwent a transformative redesign, embracing modern aesthetics with an industrial touch, softened by velvety fabrics. The redesign expands the ground floor into an airy open-plan area, where concrete’s raw beauty meets the warmth of wood and metal’s cool precision.

About Blue Pepper

Revitalizing Blue Pepper: A Modern Duplex Redesign

Located in Bucharest’s northern sector, Blue Pepper didn’t resonate with the owner’s style. Consequently, a redesign was in order. The ground floor’s original plan felt cramped, with an unnecessary bedroom given the two upstairs.

We responded by crafting a larger, more fluid open space. The old living room transformed into a dining area, and the bedroom became the living room. Also, we installed a glass wall with metallic frames, delineating the kitchen and dining room.

Industrial Chic Meets Comfort

Embracing the apartment’s raw concrete walls and ceilings, we leaned into an industrial design, softened by plush fabrics. A striking lamp now hovers over the dining table, offering a curvaceous counterpoint to the space’s linear aesthetics.

We revitalized the staircase by fortifying its shaky metal structure. Now painted black, with added perforated metal mesh and wooden steps, it exudes a refined warmth.

Symmetry and Style in Details

In a stroke of creativity, we swapped the dining room’s vertical radiator for a decorative blue one. To mirror this, we placed an equally sized painting across the room, crafting a balanced and harmonious space.
