In Porto Alegre, Brazil, the Duque Apartment underwent a renovation by Renata Pinto Beck in 2022. The redesign focuses on incorporating colors and textures, transforming the apartment’s social area while emphasizing functionality for home office use. With a mix of vibrant kitchen walls, restored parquet flooring, and unique furnishings, the apartment showcases a fun yet elegant atmosphere.
Color and Texture Combination
Renata Pinto Beck renovated the Duque Apartment in Porto Alegre, Brazil, for a couple and their pets, focusing on the social area. The clients had clear references, desiring a mix of colors, textures, and functionality for a home office.
The fixed furniture features straight lines, filling the apartment’s niches and spaces, while loose furniture like sofas, chairs, and tables have more organic shapes. Beck introduced colorful artwork and plants throughout for added vitality and personality.

Materials and Detailing
A cementitious paint was replaced with genuine concrete, removing plaster from pillars and beams. Existing parquet flooring, previously covered by vinyl, was restored, and kitchen flooring was changed.
In the living room, wood and white tones dominate. A bench and shelf run the room’s length, doubling as seating, and the work desk is positioned for optimal natural light.
The kitchen features vibrant blue hydraulic tiles behind the sink and cooktop, green cabinets with brick-colored edges, and a brick-colored pink wall opposite the tiles.
