Scorpios Bodrum, situated on Turkey’s southwest coast, serves as a gathering place inspired by the concept of the ancient Greek agora. Interior design by Studio MacBride emphasizes the use of materials such as travertine, walnut, and terrazzo to reinforce rustic atmosphere for the luxury property.

Launched in June 2024. It’s the group’s first 24-hour experience, complete with 12 villas that offer either single-floor or mezzanine layouts, features locally-sourced Turkish travertine and plaster, designed to emphasize both natural beauty and “mindful” luxury.

“We envision the bungalows as a place for retreat and tranquility, crafting each piece to be both functional and comfortable,” the designers said.

The villas feature folding walls that give way to expansive views of the Aegean Sea and concealed amenities that give priority to the visitors’ view of the surrounding scenery, Studio MacBride explains.

Exploring the rest of the property, guests will come upon the main house, a communal space divided into four distinct areas including a cocktail bar, private dining room, open kitchen, and a snack bar next to the main restaurant.

The design focuses on connectivity between each space with recessed seating and passport-style openings between separate areas.

Materials and colors utilized throughout include dark walnut, burnt orange upholstery, and beige concrete.

Studio MacBride said the collaborative approach for the first independent property created a “unique and cohesive design language, tailored for Scorpios’ specific guest profile at Bodrum.”

Restaurants designed to honor Mediterranean architecture feature velvet-upholstered banquettes, travertine counters, and paneling made from walnut and ash.

“We employed a layered, nuanced design language, characterized by thoughtful material choices and bold statements,” they explained. “The monolithic travertine island bar serves as a centrepiece, where all activity radiates around.”

Beneath geometric pergolas, the dining experiences feature “large openings” for effortless transition from indoor to outdoor areas.

A series of eight-foot-high terracotta pots beneath the large external openings divides a smaller bar area from formal dining tables, which are close in proximity to the stati and sommeliers exclusively.

Wooden beams and lush greenery create an inviting outdoor dining space with a tranquil atmosphere.
“Our goal was to capture the essence of a high-caliber destination, merging Scorpios’ unique DNA with our tailored design expertise,” said Studio MacBride.

More intimate spaces are worked into the contextually-aware design with a “contemporary temple” offset from the main house defined by open cooking spaces, treatment rooms, and neutral-toned poolside cabanas.

“The Scorpios group has grown with the introduction of its first 24 hour experience that celebrates the development from a day club to a more rounded, holistic Scorpios offering,” the studio said.

“Our design creates a layered and engaging journey for the guest across the uses of the Scorpios Bodrum property, focussing on moments for connection to the experiences.”

Scorpios Bodrum was designed to disconnect visitors and encourage feelings of relaxation and connection to the environment.
