MNAI Apartment by STUDIO18MILANO

Located in Milan, Italy, the MNAI Apartment is a 110-square-meter apartment finished in 2024, designed by STUDIO18MILANO. The apartment’s modern interior design underwent a complete transformation balancing vintage and contemporary furnishings. The renovation optimizes its space and creates flowing connections, notably featuring fabric-covered movable partitions, a staple of Gio Ponti’s work, allowing the apartment to adapt as needed, with an elegant design that embraces both modern and historical elements.

A Cohesive Communal Space

The barriers that once distinctively marked the kitchen and the lounge have vanished. Rather, mobile screens adorned with fabric, referencing Gio Ponti’s motifs, elegantly segregate and delineate the areas. This creative method permits both obscurity and transparency, adjusting to the preferences of its inhabitants.

The living area boasts the preservation of original flooring, honoring the essence of the structure. Volumes clad in maple wood reflect the splendor of grand, period-specific windows. A neutral yet inviting color scheme embraces the walls and ceilings, establishing an impeccable canvas for both vintage and contemporary decor. Every piece has been purposefully chosen, highlighting a mixture of periods and aesthetics.

In close proximity to the lounge, a glass dining table sits comfortably underneath a sculptural fabric screen. Here, the synergy of light and texture encourages dialogue, making it a perfect locale for social events.

Cozily Functional Kitchen and Sleeping Quarters

The kitchen presents as a practical yet chic complement to the shared area. It melds sleek cabinets with warm wood details into an efficient layout, optimizing functionality without sacrificing visual appeal.

As we move into the sleeping quarters, a sense of peace prevails. Soft illumination underlines a snug environment, enticing relaxation. The incorporation of rounded mirrors and soft fabrics creates a peaceful haven, ideal for unwinding after a hectic day in Milan.
