AO Apartment by DAT Studio

The current state of the dwelling is characterized by significant constraints, notably a lack of natural light and minimal ventilation, a prevalent condition in contemporary Vietnamese apartment complexes. Our design prioritises the cultivation of a serene and relaxed living environment within the apartment. Furthermore, we place particular emphasis on the critical role of the communal living space in fostering the psychological and emotional development of young children. This design element aims to enhance interaction among family members, thereby contributing to parental guidance and education in today’s demanding societal context.

Our material palette comprises simple and readily implementable options: Terrazzo, Vassari mineral paint, and Plywood. These materials are selected for their inherent ability to regulate humidity within the interior, rendering them highly suitable for the humid subtropical climate prevalent in Northern Vietnam.

In summary, our objective is to create a comfortable and tranquil ambience, both in terms of colour and form, allowing occupants to inhabit the space in a manner that resonates with their individual preferences. Simultaneously, we aim to establish a central communal living area that facilitates increased interaction and togetherness among all family members. This approach aligns with traditional Vietnamese domestic culture, a value that is gradually diminishing in modern lifestyles.
