Renew by 1001 Giving Living

Renew sets a calm new chapter for a multi-level house in New Taipei City, Taiwan, reshaped by 1001 Giving Living. The studio works with a restrained palette, careful furnishings, and subtle light control to reinterpret a decade of life without erasing it. Everyday rooms shift toward clarity and openness, yet still hold objects that anchor memory and routine.

Tall windows wash the living room in soft, filtered daylight, catching on pale gray floors and crisp white walls. A low sofa, a circular knitted rug, and a single chrome stool gather beneath the glow, setting a quiet tone for the rest of the home.

This house in New Taipei City is reimagined by 1001 Giving Living as a pared-back domestic setting where an existing life gains new clarity. The project keeps the original structure yet refreshes every surface and room through a disciplined palette and a few well-chosen objects. Interior composition stays at the center, balancing long-held belongings with new pieces that support the next decade of living.

Soft Gray Living

In the double-height living room, light gray flooring and white walls frame a compact seating area with a dark sofa pushed against the side wall. A wall-mounted lamp arcs across the room toward the windows, its long arm echoing the linear track above and drawing the eye toward the upper clerestory. Pleated blinds temper the strong daylight, so the television wall reads as a calm plane rather than a glare-filled focal point. Air-conditioning and media recesses stay flush and quiet, keeping attention on proportion and light.

Dining As Everyday Gallery

Just beyond, the dining area acts as an informal gallery for books, records, and small objects. A white table runs down the center, surrounded by a mix of chairs in black and natural wood that brings a relaxed, collected mood to the otherwise monochrome setting. Open shelving along the wall holds audio equipment, ceramics, and lamps, each item given enough breathing room to read clearly. At the far end, a tall, dark storage cabinet stands against the stair, its gridded drawers inserting a dense, tactile counterpoint to the smooth gray kitchen and the lean lines of the railings above.

Loft Edge And Texture

Above the dining room, a loft level extends the usable floor while keeping the main volume open. The perforated metal underfoot allows light to sift between levels and lets the white balustrade feel light against the deeper gray structural beam overhead. Along this edge, a single mirrored stool and a thin linear light bar keep the zone minimal, almost like a viewing platform. Texture does the work here: rough concrete-like structure, fine perforations, and smooth painted walls all play against one another without crowding the narrow mezzanine.

Quiet Private Rooms

In the bedroom, white walls and pale flooring form a simple envelope for a low bed dressed in soft neutrals and a single teal cushion. A compact wooden nightstand brings warmth, holding a small lamp that casts a pool of light just large enough for reading. Personal history rests in plain view through a stickered suitcase, stored beside the bed like a ready reminder of past and future journeys. Bathrooms follow the same calm approach, with gray wall finishes, clear glass partitions, and white basins that sit on straightforward cabinetry, accented only by a single artwork or dark towel rail.

Daily routines in Renew move between high, sunlit volumes and contained, intimate rooms, all held within a consistent palette of whites and grays. Light, shadow, and a few contrasting textures carry most of the visual weight, letting familiar objects feel newly seen. The house stands ready for its next decade, composed yet open to gradual change.
