City Oasis by Martijn Veldman Interior Design
City Oasis places a warm, modern apartment in the heart of Amsterdam, Netherlands, shaped by Martijn Veldman Interior Design. Sunlit rooms, grounded by deep greens and pale timber, frame daily rituals in a calm, composed way that softens the city edge. Each volume flows into the next, so cooking, dining, relaxing, and sleeping feel connected yet quietly distinct.

Morning light brushes the pale floor and catches the edge of a deep green sofa. Shadows slip across warm timber and soft textiles as the day unfolds.
This apartment in Amsterdam, Netherlands, is planned by Martijn Veldman Interior Design as a calm urban retreat where furniture, finishes, and light work together. The palette stays restrained yet expressive, so every object earns its place and daily use feels intentional rather than precious.
Living Room Composition
In the main living room, a generous green sofa anchors the seating zone and directs the view toward a low, linear media wall. Slim white shelves stretch across the wall, carrying just enough books, vessels, and framed photographs to add character without visual noise. A sculptural wall lamp casts a warm circular glow, turning the plaster surface into a quiet focal point at night. The composition stays low and horizontal, so the room feels open even when fully occupied.
Dining Niche In The Eaves
Around the corner, the dining table tucks into a niche beneath sloping ceilings, making use of geometry that might otherwise be awkward. A built-in bench lines the back wall, upholstered in a textured neutral fabric that softens the crisp lines of the window recess. Black metal-framed chairs and a timber tabletop introduce a sharper note, giving the ensemble a graphic edge against the pale envelope. Overhead, two slender pendant lights hang from a fine black track, their disks hovering low enough to frame the bowl of fruit on the table.
Kitchen Warmth And Clarity
The adjacent kitchen reads clean and practical, yet far from cold. Soft-toned cabinetry and integrated pulls keep the joinery visually quiet, allowing the veined stone countertop to add depth and movement. Wall sconces flank the main work zone and wash light down the backsplash, so the counter feels bright without harsh glare. Open stretches of surface accommodate coffee gear, chopping boards, and small rituals that begin and end each day.
Bedroom Calm And Texture
In the bedroom, the palette contracts to chalky walls, crisp white bedding, and a few deliberate accents. Floating bedside tables keep the floor clear and weightless, their slim profiles echoed by a small wall-mounted reading light. One corner holds a low timber and woven chair, paired with a simple throw, which invites lingering with a book. Art in blue linework introduces a single vivid color note, enough to animate the room without breaking its calm tone.
Bathroom As Quiet Suite
The bathroom extends the bedroom’s mood rather than interrupting it. A long timber vanity with an under-slung basin gives ample room for daily grooming, while open shelving below stores towels within easy reach. Soft wall lights flank a round mirror and catch the grain of the wood door, linking back to the apartment’s core material story. Beyond a glass screen, a walk-in shower and freestanding tub share the same neutral tiles, so the room reads as one coherent volume.
From living room to bath, each zone leans on a restrained palette, tactile finishes, and careful lighting rather than overt decoration. The apartment gains character through proportion, rhythm, and everyday objects placed with care. As daylight fades and the layered lights come on, City Oasis holds a steady, composed glow against the busy Amsterdam streets outside.
