The Cipriani Apartment: A Modern Classic Shaped by Milanese Light
The Cipriani Apartment is an apartment in Milan, Italy, designed by Stefano Belingardi Clusoni within a historic city building. Conceived in 2026, the modern classic interior brings a contemporary point of view to the Cipriani identity, using travertine, glossy mahogany, and black iron to shape a calm, connected home. Across the plan, light and reflective finishes strengthen the sense of continuity from room to room.

About The Cipriani Apartment
The project begins with an encounter between the architect’s contemporary language and the classic identity of the Cipriani universe, forming a modern classic intended to last. Set inside a historic Milanese building, the intervention carries the architecture of the existing structure into the interiors, establishing a direct relationship between the home and its urban setting.
The apartment is organized around a large, fluid living area where the kitchen, dining room, and lounge remain visually connected. The sleeping quarters are conceived as a contemporary suite, intimate in character and flexible in use. That sense of continuity gives the plan its clarity.
Material balance drives the interior. Travertine, glossy mahogany—an iconic element within the Cipriani universe—and black iron set up a measured contrast between warmth, weight, and reflection. Rather than competing, these finishes hold the rooms together and give the apartment a steady rhythm.
At the center of the living area, a sculptural fireplace wraps around a structural column and becomes the element that both separates and joins the main domestic zones. It marks the plan without interrupting it. The gesture creates a clear point of focus while preserving the open character of the apartment.
Natural light plays a central role throughout. Amplified by reflective surfaces and the through-layout, it helps create a warm, welcoming atmosphere across the home. Bespoke furnishings, artworks, and materials chosen to age well over time reinforce the coherence of the interior and sharpen its contemporary character.
The project brings together a contemporary design approach with materials and details drawn from Art Deco and the aesthetics of the 1970s. That exchange between periods gives the apartment its distinct tone: current in expression, yet anchored by references that lend it depth and continuity.
