About Szumilas
Discovering Szumilas: A Nature-Centric Retreat in Lubiatowo
Nestled in Lubiatowo, Northern Poland, six cabins form the Szumilas (“Summer Houses”) retreat. Energetic owners Magda and Chris craved an escape from urban hustle. Their travel-inspired visions, particularly from hostels, and a love for nature, motivated them to invest in these eco-friendly holiday homes.
Architectural Harmony with Nature
They partnered with Raca Architekci to bring this vision to life. Each two-story cabin, built from natural materials, beautifully complements its surroundings.
Larch wood clads the gabled houses, crowned by black metal roofs and chimneys. Deeply recessed windows in the facade introduce a modern twist to classic cabin design.
Merging Indoor and Outdoor Living
Each cabin features an exterior deck, amplifying the living space. This platform, ideal for gatherings, seamlessly connects interiors to nature. Doors swing wide open, extending the lounge area.
Inside, exposed beams, plywood touches, and wood walls dominate. The color scheme blends white and gray, punctuated by greens echoing the nearby forests.
Spacious Interiors in Compact Spaces
Despite their modest 474 square feet (about 44 square meters), these homes exude spaciousness. The ground floor boasts a kitchen, roomy bathroom, and a cozy living room with a sleeper sofa and fireplace.
Wooden stairs ascend to two bedrooms, each offering picturesque landscape views. The interiors showcase Scandinavian elegance: clean lines meld with modern furnishings and Raca Architekci’s custom creations.
