About Azoris Royal Garden Hotel
Remarkable Pre-existing Principles Shape the Project
The project’s approach to remodeling accommodation units is based on two remarkable pre-existing principles.
Embracing a Traditional Japanese Garden
The building showcases a strong connection to the Japanese garden, developing around it to create a traditional central garden environment. The architecture, marked by pragmatic organization and formal design, follows a reticulated pattern with contained dimensions using regular metrics.
The Importance of Tatami in Design Concept
The Tatami serves as the core element that embodies these principles, and thus, it is elected as the driving force behind the intervention concept. The Tatami is not only significant for its dimensional character, but also for its regulatory form, which becomes the “leitmotiv” for the lexicon used to support the scale and proportion of space in the rooms.
Incorporating Natural Materials to Complement the Garden
The use of natural materials, such as stone, steel, and wood, made perfect sense in interpreting the environment created by the garden. These materials help recreate the room elements, unifying the building’s past, present, and future development.
Exploring Various Typologies to Achieve Diversity
Several typologies were explored to differentiate similar spaces from one another, resulting in an interesting relationship among the unit variants. This approach provides diversity in the modulation of the spaces.
