Floor-to-ceiling sliding doors, pivoting glass louvers, and free-floating millwork allow the ceiling to stretch continuously throughout, creating a sense of spaciousness. Integrated and efficient storage helps keep the interior clutter-free, while warm and inviting textures including end-grain parquet flooring, rift white oak cabinetry, forest green doors, misty ceramic tile, and contrasting slabs of terrazzo and schist bring a sense of comfort and style.
About West Village Apartment
Gut Renovating a 1100sf Apartment in the West Village
This gut renovation of a 1100sf apartment in the West Village (1076.7 m²) sought to open up a highly compartmentalized plan and introduce longer views through different spaces and out over its view of Sheridan Square. Floor-to-ceiling sliding doors, pivoting glass louvers, and free-floating millwork allowed the ceiling to stretch continuously throughout, making each room feel more spacious than its dimensions would suggest.
Prioritizing Integrated and Efficient Storage
Integrated and efficient storage was prioritized to keep the space clutter-free. Close attention was paid to the detailing of crisp new plaster against the raw exposed structural columns.
Introducing Warmth, Texture, and Color
Warmth, texture, and color were introduced through solid end-grain parquet flooring, rift white oak cabinetry, forest green doors, misty ceramic tile, and contrasting slabs of terrazzo and schist.
