About French Kitsch III

Embracing the Concept of French Kitsch

French Kitsch III invites you into a world where playfulness meets sophistication. This unique French patisserie, located in Phang Nga, Thailand, embodies the essence of its name through its innovative design. Inspired by the love for French bulldogs, the café cleverly integrates elements of Kitsch, embracing the beauty of imperfection in architecture.

Architectural Inspiration from French Cathedrals

The design draws its primary reference from the grandeur of French cathedrals. Rhythmic arches serve as a cornerstone of the aesthetic, with the café employing a mix of imperfect arches to create a dynamic visual experience. By starting with a perfect rectangular mass, the architects carves out charming imperfections, leading to a stunning display both inside and out.

Light and Shadow Play

As visitors enter French Kitsch III, they are embraced by the playful interplay of light and shadow created by the antique yet modern arches. natural light filters through arched windows, casting reflections reminiscent of stained glass on the interior surfaces, enriching the café’s inviting ambiance.

The Role of Textured Concrete

Using textured concrete as the main material reinforces the theme of ‘perfection in imperfection.’ The rugged wall surfaces beautifully highlight the authenticity of the material. This strategic choice allows furniture, décor, and LED lighting to stand out, emphasizing the café’s unique architectural details.

Creating Memorable Experiences

The oversized, imperfect arches create seamless interaction between the first and second floors, connecting guests to the full-function counter that can be viewed from both levels. On the second floor, voids carved into inverted curves allow sunlight to stream in, enhancing the overall atmosphere while providing subtle shading.

In every aspect, French Kitsch III exemplifies a thoughtful blend of design elements, creating a memorable and engaging environment that reflects the playful yet elegant spirit of its brand. The café stands as a testament to the beauty of imperfection in contemporary architecture.
