Luxurious Stay With A View Of The Eternal City

A couple of young entrepreneurs with stellar past careers—he a former Serie A soccer player, she Miss Italy—are betting on an anonymous vacation home in the center of Rome, Italy, and have chosen architect Giorgia Dennerlein to turn it into a luxury stay with a view of the Eternal City. The total renovation of the apartment creates tailor-made spaces by exploiting previously unused corners. 80 square meters (861 square feet) are now well orchestrated and redistributed into two bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and a living room with kitchen.

Marble Textures Welcome Guests

The interior design is a journey through time and history. Upon crossing the threshold, a series of marble textures welcomes the guest: the studio’s winning idea is to create a dialogue between the square floor plan of the apartment and a central rhombus of marble tiles rotated by 45°, creating a sort of sundial that guides the gaze towards the points overlooking the outside and thus towards the eternal beauty of the Colosseum and the Ludus Magnus. Around the central geometric motif of the flooring, the imperial marble with Lepanto Domus Aurea red veins by Tagina Ceramiche perfectly matches the wall palette built on shades of white, black, and burgundy and embellished by the Arcadia fabric wallcovering collection by Glamora, in the Apollo, Trigarium, and Silvanus designs.

A Mirrored Bronze Cube Acts As A Pivot

A mirrored bronze cube acts as a pivot point for the various rooms: a visual trick that not only conceals a large wardrobe inside, but also gives depth and diffused light to the space. Vintage and contemporary furnishings coexist in perfect harmony, creating a rigorous aesthetic. Their positioning within the rooms plays on the directional axes of the central rhombus. In this context, it is therefore not surprising to find two four-poster beds facing the outer corners of the bedrooms.

Design Approach Rethinks Architecture

In this apartment, stately elements from the past and contemporary references converge in a scenographic beauty, suspended between past and present, which has its roots in Greco-Roman classicism. The same beauty that can be admired when looking out of the window. Enclosed here, in the ethics of proxemics, is the entire design approach of the Studio, which is committed to rethinking architecture without ever taking it far from the places where it stands.
