Baia del Silenzio House Recasts a 1970s Shell for Coastal Living
Baia del Silenzio is a house in Augusta, Sicily, Italy, redesigned by Andrea Guardo Studio in 2025. Set within a known seaside district, the project reworks a 1970s structure for an American owner who wanted wider views of the Mediterranean. The renovation keeps the terraces and loggias in play while opening the interiors toward the sea.

About Baia del Silenzio
An American globetrotter asks for a house with a view of the sea, and the result turns toward the Sicilian horizon from nearly every room. In Augusta, within the Baia del Silenzio district, Andrea Guardo Studio reshapes a 1970s house into a summer residence that keeps its coastal character.
The existing terraces and loggias remain central to the plan. Large glazed walls replace the former openings, drawing the horizon deeper into the interior and opening the house to light and long views.
Ground Floor Life
The ground floor is arranged as an open plan that extends directly toward the outdoor areas. This level supports daily life with a clear visual link between inside and out, so the sea stays present across the main rooms.
Upper Rooms And Views
Bedrooms move upstairs, where the layout gives the house a quieter rhythm. Broad windows continue the visual line to the water, keeping the upper floor connected to the same coastal setting that shapes the rest of the home.
Basement Connections
Below, the house reaches another outdoor convivial area set beside a stone garden that slopes toward the sea. That descent adds a different register to the project, with rougher ground and planted edges balancing the smoother finishes above.
Mediterranean Finishes
Tailored furnishings and finishes carry a Mediterranean feel through the interiors. The palette stays restrained and tied to the site, allowing texture, light, and the changing view to do much of the work.
