The Peak Apartment by ShapeUs studio

The Peak is an apartment in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, by ShapeUs studio. Designed for elderly residents, it pairs a pared-back, monochrome shell with warm wood and familiar objects carried from earlier homes. The result feels calm and practical, but also personal, with rooms arranged around ease of movement, rest, and daily routines.

About The Peak

The Peak is conceived for elderly residents, bringing together minimal surfaces and the warmth of remembered things. Its rooms feel calm from the start, yet they carry traces of earlier homes in a way that keeps the apartment grounded and familiar.

The design begins with the newly acquired property, where the original structure is stripped back into a neutral, monochrome shell. That clear foundation gives the interior a quiet order, while custom-built wooden furniture adds texture and warmth without disturbing the restraint of the palette.

Personal belongings from the residents’ previous homes complete the layered approach. Old furniture, small objects, and heirlooms are brought into the apartment and reworked in reduced forms or updated colors so they sit comfortably within the new setting.

That balance between old and new also shapes the way the apartment is used. Multiple resting areas are placed with the daily routines of elderly residents in mind, and each one is arranged for comfort, access, and ease of movement.

The project draws a line between rural memory and modern living without forcing the contrast. Clean architecture, warm timber, and familiar possessions settle into a single domestic rhythm, giving the home a sense of continuity that feels both practical and personal.
