Nestled in the outskirts of Longmen Ancient Town, the house is an example of how to balance economical construction and energy savings while embracing traditional and modern architecture. Local materials and craftsmanship have been used to respect the natural environment and create a connection with the local culture. Reinforced concrete frames and cedar roof frames are combined with local natural wood and stone to create a modern interior design that also reduces energy consumption.

With the possibility of future B&B operations in mind, House in Longmen is a project that seeks to revive the values of place and countryside through design and create comfortable and pleasant dwellings for the villagers.

Located in Athens, Greece, House in Kifisia is a two-story residence designed in 2021 by the renowned Paly Architects.

The property is set on a corner plot in Kifisia, a modern, affluent suburb of Athens that is known for its picturesque parks, gardens and landmarks. The house is designed with a contemporary style, boasting an ‘U’ shape design, semi-open spaces, large windows, and a water element to create a subtle dialogue between open and closed spaces, private and public. High-quality materials like white walls, wooden floors, white metals, natural anodization on the frames, grey plates, and stone from Markopoulo are used to bring the design to life, with planting of Greek flowers and trees providing the finishing touches.

Hampton House is a two-story contemporary house located in Hampton, Australia. Built in 2018, the house was designed by Architecture Works as a light-filled family home that would accommodate a family of five and cater to entertaining.

The home has been Heritage listed, requiring the original Edwardian weatherboard facade to remain intact. The contemporary addition to the rear of the house features white concrete forms to reflect the existing weatherboards, creating a sense of strength in the design and life of the dwelling. Challenges included meeting the expectations of the clients and integrating a modern concrete and glass form within the constraints of Heritage guidelines. The house extends over three levels and is connected by a central helical stair. An overhanging roof provides shelter to the internal spaces and creates an intimate outdoor living area, while external motorized venetian blinds allow the owners to control the amount of light and privacy.

Situated in the coastal suburb of Hampton, the house boasts stunning views of the bay to the West.

Introducing the Live Oak Ridge Residence – a stunning contemporary home designed by KOA – Keyes Office of Architecture in 2022 and located in Austin, Texas.

Set within the rolling terrain of West Lake Hills, this beautiful home has been designed to take advantage of the surrounding tree-top views, while also providing privacy from the street.

The upper level has been designed to be visually open to the outdoors, with a ribbon-window design giving unobstructed views of the landscape, and balconies allowing natural air to flow through the home. A stone entry volume buffers the opening living area from the street level, while the kitchen has expansive views of the rolling hills and a curated view of the front yard. Natural light is able to reflect over the stone volume, eliminating the need for any artificial lighting. Finally, the exterior of the home is cloaked in black metal panels and cedar wood soffits, providing a stunning view from the street.
