About House in Les-Portes-en-Ré

Modern Seaside Living: A Dance of Space and Time

In this modern seaside home, the living space unfolds through a series of changing views and sequences, evolving with the seasons. Capturing these moments brings the architecture to life, each fragment interacting beautifully with its surroundings.

Redefining Comfort with a Warm Renovation

Located north of Île de Ré and nestled in a lush garden, the house offers expansive views on all sides. The renovation aimed to modernize the living environment while maintaining warmth. The owners sought a design that fit their lifestyle, comfort, and tastes. This involved reimagining interior spaces and redefining openings to the outdoors.

Interior designs now foster new connections between rooms and with the exterior. Sequencing work, emphasized by solid wood, creates a cohesive theme throughout the home.

The central area unites two living rooms and a dining room/kitchen. A solid oak strip houses doors and storage units, facilitating the flow and framing views that bring the outside in.

From these areas, one can appreciate the warm surroundings, inviting relaxation.

Attention to Detail in Design

Details abound in these spaces, from the choice of terracotta materials to the meticulous work on solid oak. This includes hidden doors and shadow gaps, enhancing dialogue with the existing space.

Each architectural element and framing both highlights the existing structure and adds a sense of unity.
