About Flat Eleven

Small Space, Big Impact: Redefining Florence Living

Studio Pierattelli Architetture transforms a cozy 60-square-meter (645 square feet) apartment in Florence. This private home turns limited space into an opportunity for innovative design. It blends minimalism and functionality, redefining modern living. The apartment, spread over two levels, has been completely redesigned. Custom-made furniture efficiently utilizes every inch, creating a spacious and uncluttered environment.

Creating Depth and Dimension

Upon entering, a modest entrance leads to a large, double-height room. This striking vertical space contrasts with the horizontal living area below. A round arch, central to the design, adds depth and serves as a focal point. It frames the kitchen and living room, balancing the spaces. The kitchen, equipped with Arclinea designs, oversees the living area. A bespoke sofa with denim cushions and a lacquered wooden bench add a touch of elegance, leading to a charming green corner. A wall-mounted bookcase connects the two levels, enhancing functionality. The staircase, with a sleek lacquered iron design, leads to the sleeping area, complemented by a glass balustrade. A small window offers a picturesque view of the Santo Spirito church’s dome.

Light-Enhancing Design

Material and color choices focus on amplifying light and space. The French herringbone parquet, with its reflective quality, makes the area feel larger. The interior mainly features light colors, with bold exceptions like the indigo blue wall and sofa. These elements add character to the space. Iconic furnishings, including the Taccia lamp by Achille Castiglioni (FLOS), Wolfgang Uhlig’s art, Philippe Stark’s Fort Knox projectors (FLOS), and the Tulip coffee table by Charles and Ray Eames (Knoll), showcase attention to detail.

Studio Pierattelli Architetture’s approach demonstrates how small spaces can be artfully transformed into functional, stylish, and bright living areas.
