Villa Vingt by Bourgeois / Lechasseur Architectes
The Villa Vingt is anchored on a sloping site next to the ski resort Le Relais just 15 minutes from downtown Quebec City, Canada. The upper ground offers a magnificent view of the Laurentian hills and Lac-Beauport’s residential area.
About Villa Vingt
Elevating Home Design with Natural Elegance
This project revitalizes an existing home, drawing on the site’s unique topography and the owners’ long-term connection to the land. It’s a thoughtful blend of the familiar and the innovative.
Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Connection
The design is inspired by the site’s varied landscape. The first level hugs the ground and opens to the north, while the upper level seems to float. Living spaces extend outwards, offering stunning views and blending indoor with outdoor. Wide windows open to the mountains, and roof overhangs extend over outdoor decks.
Privacy is preserved despite the home’s open design, thanks to the strategically placed access road. As you approach, the warmth of the white cedar ceiling unfolds, visually connecting inside and outside. This theme continues at the entrance, where unique materials and shapes welcome visitors.
Dynamic Interiors and Respectful Design
The sloped roof helps the house blend into its environment. Window placement varies the interior atmosphere, like the dining room skylight that frames treetops and scatters light. The heart of the home features a rough-textured concrete wall, showing the marks of its making. Nearby, a staircase showcasing concrete and steel adds to the home’s charm.
The house stands out, reminiscent of Californian villas, with its volumetric play and horizontal facade creating a notable presence.
