About Mercer Island Home
A Nature-Infused Retreat in Seattle
This peaceful home, designed by Garret Cord Werner, Architects & Interior Designers, blends with nature in the Seattle area. It looks simple from the outside, but inside, it’s open and full of light. Inspired by Japanese style, the house feels like a Zen resort in the city.
Water: The Heart of the Home
The home’s design centers around a stream of water. It separates the public and private areas with see-through bridges. Homeowners can choose to open sliding glass walls to the water or just enjoy the view. The water starts as a pond by the front door, becomes a lap pool in the middle of the house, and ends as an infinity spa with views of Lake Washington and pine trees.
Indoor and Outdoor Worlds Merge
Garret Cord Werner always thinks about connecting inside and outside spaces. Large windows open up the house to the outside, blending the two spaces together. This design mixes the home with nature, surrounded by big trees and keeping it quiet and private. The whole design – architecture, interior, and garden – works together to make the house feel calm and inviting.
