About House DC
Nestled Nature: Architectural Symbiosis with the Green
A slender volume comfortably nestles between trees, acknowledging the damp terrain and prioritizing orientation.
Setting the Scene: The Watery Landscape
This property finds its home in a lush neighborhood, dotted with water sources. Streams lace the land, with one notably at the property’s rear, often overflowing annually. The surrounding forest houses a tapestry of native, prized trees, all preserved meticulously.
Designing with Deliberation: The House’s Strategic Placement
To the house’s south lies the right front of the site. The architects crafted an elongated structure, weaving it between trees and angling it purposefully. This angle ensures that both living spaces and the pool catch the southern sun.
Elevation and Protection: A Thoughtful Approach
Elevating the house shields it from potential floodwaters. A raised path, connecting the street to the front door, offers unobstructed access, even during flooding.
Meticulous Sun Management: The Masonry Canopy
A strategic masonry canopy on the southern side blocks direct sunlight, ensuring both living areas and bedrooms remain comfortably shaded.
