About Corner Cutting House
Immersive Riverside Experience: A Home by the Ayase River
Nestled by the tranquil Ayase River, our site boasts a breathtaking view, punctuated by towering cherry blossom trees that paint a picturesque foreground. Enveloped in this rich, natural panorama, the site offers expansive vistas that inspire awe.
As we envisioned this home, we sought to encapsulate the grandeur of the surrounding cherry trees, as well as the continuous line of blossoms extending east to west along the river bank. We aspired for the home to capture the river’s exclusive view, immersing itself fully in this magnificent riverside scenery.
A Fusion of Architecture and Nature: The Corner Cut Design
To create an engaging dialogue between the home and its environment, we meticulously trimmed the building’s corners. This architectural decision allows for unimpeded sightlines to the site’s four corners, inviting the surrounding landscape into the home’s interior.
A Mastery of Woodwork: The Three-Dimensional Roof
The roof of the building exhibits an intricate three-dimensional structure fashioned entirely from wood. The second floor, devoid of any pillars, maintains an uncluttered, open space.
An Indoor Blossom Viewing Experience: Panoramic Corner Windows
During the cherry blossom season, the corner windows create a seamless connection between the exterior and the interior. These windows offer panoramic views of the cherry blossoms, enabling inhabitants to partake in the traditional cherry blossom viewing, all from the comfort of their home. This immersive design element allows for an intimate experience with nature, making cherry blossom viewing a routine part of home life.
