A New York State of Mind by L’Atelier Paris Haute Design
The proud fleur de lys you see emblazoned throughout this project is synonymous with L’Atelier’s unique and traditional French touch, but when we were approached by the owner of this Manhattan penthouse to design their kitchen, we knew we also wanted to evoke a distinctly New York sensibility.
In consultation with our client, a gifted amateur chef, we settled on a palette of resolute charcoal with gleaming metallic highlights. The efficient, ultramodern design favors clean lines with minimal and tasteful ornamentation that nonetheless catches the light in striking fashion. Both an aesthetic showpiece and a laboratory for culinary experimentation, we worked out the optimal positioning for the range, convection oven and cabinetry, with ample prep space and built-in convection warming drawers. The client, a regular host of bustling society functions, also requested a pair of wine chilling units, which we were able to combine with a 400 series refrigerator.
Reflecting our commitment to artisanal craftsmanship, the cabinetry is constructed of durable hand-brushed stainless steel with polished chrome brass trim, with oak handles and a formidable black marble backsplash behind the rear island.
