We found a house, built in the 1930s, hidden behind years of neglect. The unmistakable signs of previous alterations to its structure caught our eye, and we immediately vowed to resurrect the original Art Deco charisma that once defined it.
Embarking on a Journey of Architectural Restoration
Starting our odyssey, we revitalized the facade details, original pasta floors, carpentry, and other significant architectural elements. This charming, compact house, nestled in the heart of Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, was set to shine once again.
Inviting Interiors: A Blend of Past and Present
Cross the foyer, and the journey unveils a living-dining room, kitchen, two bedrooms, a bathroom, study, and a patio with a quaint pool. We’ve infused this space with a sophisticated, yet cheerful ambiance, marrying Deco touches with the relaxed rhythm of modern life.
A Tapestry of Textures and Colors
The balance comes from a masterful fusion of Deco and contemporary decorative elements. An array of textures, symmetries, asymmetries, and geometries enrich the space.
