Angel Chen designed the Harmonious Love Haven, a 14-ping apartment in Taichung, Taiwan, for a couple embodying quiet elegance. Completed in 2022, the residence reflects their balanced relationship through minimalist Japanese aesthetics and sustainable features. The home doubles as a meeting space, providing a serene environment that respects the couple’s independence while nurturing their connection. Reconfigured layouts reduce confinement, earning a GD Gold Green Renovation certification with low-formaldehyde materials and adhesive-free finishes.
Japanese Aesthetics in Taichung Apartment
Taiwanese designer Angel Chen has used minimalist Japanese aesthetics to transform an apartment in Taichung into a serene haven for a couple embodying quiet elegance.
Named Harmonious Love Haven, the 14-ping (46.2-square-metre) home was designed in 2022 to also function as a meeting space.
Chen reconfigured the spatial layouts to create a more open environment for the couple, aiming to reduce the sense of confinement and promote a harmonious living experience.
Balanced Design Reflects Relationship
The project’s design reflects the couple’s balanced relationship, crafted to respect their independence while nurturing a strong connection.
Certified with a GD Gold Green Renovation classification, the project includes several sustainable features.
These comprise of low-formaldehyde photo boards, faux concrete ceilings for TVOC reduction and adhesive-free finishes.

“This serene love haven resonates with the essence of synchronized living and caring relationships,” said the designer.
