We are in the heart of the Murattiano district of Bari, where Diorama has completely renovated this 180 sqm apartment to meet the needs of a young family. The spaces integrate clearly defined day and night zones and win a wealth of essential and refined custom details, fabrics and tactile finishes that narrate a highly personal story in every view.
The previous layout was functionally fragmented, with the kitchen separated from the living space by a long and rigid corridor. Bathrooms were now obsolete and service areas inefficient, with limited storage options.
The new proposal reworks the layout to create a more organic plan: on one side, the bright and functional living area adjacent to the new kitchen, with a large, reflective sliding window acting as a filter; on the other, the “more intimate” night zone with two new comfortable bathrooms and two bedrooms, connected by a spacious hallway.
In this area, a smooth solid wood paneling with a strong essence conceals large wardrobes, a storage area, and a laundry space.
The new spaces are essential and refined but characterized strongly by lights, colors and materials. Dark oak artisan parquet, laid in Italian herringbone, runs throughout the entire house, while the walls are painted in a soft and warm gray that embraces the whole apartment, from the boiserie to the integrated furniture.
In the living area, the back wall becomes a scenic backdrop thanks to wall panels in geometrically shaped fabrics, alongside which a large wengé solid wood dining table transforms into a stylish billiard table.
Completing the scene are five raw iron pillars designed and made ad hoc: due to a previous structural problem of floor subsidence, cross bracing props had been installed in the center of the room and were no longer removable. The solution was to clad the existing structures in shaped hexagonal sheet metal, complete with stylized capitals and recessed spotlights, creating entirely new and unique elements that perfectly blend with the environment.
Custom and Cocoon Solutions for the Day and Night Zones
Connected directly to the living room, the custom-made kitchen becomes a convivial space. Luxurious black aman marble coats the multifunctional island and the kitchen worktops, while ivory striped panels complete the scene.
For the bathroom areas, a cocoon solution was chosen: floor, walls and ceiling are colored the same for a strong emotional impact.
The large guest bathroom is elegant and exclusive; the lacquer sink wall is framed by calacatta gold marble slabs while navy blue prevails in the environment, from the bathtub to the large shower with integrated seat.
In the anti-bathroom, a small hidden laundry area and various cupboards for linens and appliances were obtained.
The master bathroom follows the color schemes used for the double bedroom, where the ethnic geometric wallpaper in warm earth tones stands out. Materic travertine surfaces and soft honey-colored oak interact with terracotta-toned walls.
The veins of dark wood parquet and surfaces, the matte lacquered gloss of the boiserie, the reflections of the mirror walls, the precious textures of the marble, the spackled resin surfaces, the weaves of the fabrics; Every view is a tale that starts with the finishes and arrives at the details.
