About Mullet House
Reviving a Point Grey Classic
This project breathes new life into a Point Grey house from the early 1900s in Vancouver. The house, marred by years of inadequate renovations, suffered from a cramped layout and overlooked its northern view. We embarked on a comprehensive overhaul, aiming to restore the house’s original charm while infusing it with modern elements.
A Seamless Blend of Old and New
Our focus was twofold: to rejuvenate the house and to embrace its scenic surroundings. By stripping the house back to its bones, we created a canvas for modern innovation. We transformed the north facade, opening it up to the stunning views of the North Shore mountains, Burrard Inlet, and downtown Vancouver.
Contrasts define the interior. The modern, open, multifunctional spaces starkly differ from the formal living room. This duality offers the family the best of both worlds: a cozy, character-filled home and a modern, light-infused space.
Innovative Design Touches
The upstairs master bedroom underwent a significant transformation. It’s now a collection of spaces under a vaulted roof. A lightweight steel structure supports the extensive glass facade, seamlessly integrating the outdoors with the interior. Downstairs, we lowered the slab, raising the ceilings in the family room. A large pivot door at the heart of the glass facade fosters a direct link to the garden, blending indoor and outdoor living.
