About House in Szczecin
Breathing Life into a 1923 Szczecin Home
In Szczecin, we took on the task of revitalizing a 1923 house’s interior. Initially, our primary goal was to transform its classic, segmented layout.
The Ground Floor Transformation
Starting on the ground floor, we removed numerous partitions. As a result, we crafted a flowing space. This area now effortlessly integrates a kitchen, living room, two dining areas, and an office.
Infusing Natural Elegance Upstairs
Moving to the first floor, it houses three serene bedrooms and two modern bathrooms. Guided by the Wabi-sabi philosophy, we put a significant emphasis on natural materials. Consequently, clay plaster covers most of the walls and the ceiling joists on the first floor. On the other hand, the ground floor’s ceiling joists stand proudly exposed. After meticulous renovation, the floorboards now gleam under a protective oil finish. Additionally, handmade tiles compose a distinctive stove, and notably, the kitchen features vintage 1923 floor tiles.
A Verdant Touch
Within the veranda, an astonishing feature awaits. Specifically, a 200-year-old olive tree stands tall, chosen due to the investor’s passion for trees.
A Melange of Global Aesthetic Touches
Drawing inspiration from Japanese and Brazilian modernism, the home’s interior is a curated blend. Pieces from Isamu Noguchi and Jader Almeida find their place here, including unique chairs by Junzo Sakakura. Furthermore, a striking 1969 wool carpet from Kowary-Poland graces the floor. Alongside these, classic furnishings from various countries—including Denmark, the Czech Republic, and Mexico—adorn the space, all having undergone expert renovations. In the office, visitors find Erwin Olaf’s evocative artworks. Lastly, Loft-Kolasiński contributed bespoke designs, ranging from elegant tables to functional wardrobes.
In conclusion, our clients’ unwavering trust and innate creativity enabled us to create this exceptional masterpiece of a home.
