About Casa Moe
Historic Charm Meets Modern Aesthetics
Casa Moe sits atop an early 1900s building overlooking the Naviglio Grande in Milan. Thanks to its southern exposure, natural light floods in through five large skylights that punctuate the roof.
Designing a Personalized Sanctuary
Infused with the spirit of a young creative woman, the design marries minimal aesthetics with functionality. Upon entry, a C-shaped kitchen beckons, seamlessly leading your gaze to the dining area. Meanwhile, the gentle tones of the resin flooring establish a calming bridge between the diverse living zones.
Preserving and Elevating the Original
While the home retains its foundational structure, its design leverages the varying room heights. Warm birch wood furniture, custom-crafted, meanders from the living space to the bathroom, lending continuity.
Innovative Furniture Choices
Etiam Studio gifts the space with a bespoke sofa. Comprising two blocks, it transforms into a sprawling 2x2m (about 6.5×6.5ft) bed with a simple strap pull. Thoughtfully, its camping-inspired design invites playful interaction and customization.
Custom Accents and Brightness Amplifiers
A built-in mirrored wardrobe adds brilliance to the bedroom. Thoughtfully, an intricately carved detail masks the air split. The bathroom stands out with its rectangular 2D striped tiles and cleverly concealed laundry within the birch cabinetry. Moreover, a porthole discreetly hides the cat litter box.
Historical Touches in Modern Spaces
Historic gems like the Locus Solus chairs by Gae Aulenti and the 606 Universal Shelving System by Dieter Rams intersperse the space. With treasures like the Applique Cylindrique by Charlotte Perriand x Nemo and vintage finds in the living area, the decor is a visual treat.
Ultimately, Casa Moe harmoniously fuses age-old elegance with contemporary flair, paying homage to its roots while looking ahead.
