Occupying an expansive warehouse, this freshly minted corporate space astounds with a village-inspired design of house-shaped volumes, effortlessly blending diverse work environments, from labs to manufacturing areas.
Elevated platforms grant viewers a bird’s-eye panorama, while communal stairs serve multiple purposes, from informal work to lunch spots. With acoustic features ensuring utmost privacy, this office stands as a testament to forward-thinking design.

Turning a Warehouse into a Modern Office: Hallstar I
Initially, a Chicago company approached us with the desire to revamp their expansive warehouse space. Inside this transformed warehouse, there’s now a brand-new office space, a lab, a production area, and storage for their products.
To address the challenge of the tall space and make it feel more intimate, we designed a “mini village”. Comprising small house-like structures, each of these has its own office function. Consequently, this design approach gives every corner a distinct and lively vibe. Adjacent to this village, there’s a mezzanine, acting as a lookout point. It not only houses additional office spaces but also provides an intriguing overhead view of the village below. Additionally, an expansive set of stairs connects to this platform.
Making Space for Everyone: Flexible Areas in Hallstar I
Recognizing the diverse needs of the team, we meticulously crafted various workspaces. As a result, Hallstar’s team can always find the ideal spot for their tasks. Interestingly, the grand stairs serve multiple purposes. Beyond connecting spaces, they offer spots for casual work, dining, or even gatherings for company announcements. Nearby, there’s a cafe which, besides boasting a communal table, offers cozy nooks perfect for meals or informal chats. Furthermore, to ensure a serene atmosphere, we installed soft ceiling tiles to dampen noise. Lastly, we organized the utility areas behind-the-scenes to ensure seamless operations.
