A colorful apartment in Warsaw’s Żoliborz district features an expressive interior by Mistovia, highlighted by clever space optimization and vibrant hues. The 36-square-meter space includes a spacious living room, functional kitchenette, small bedroom, and bathroom with a bathtub, complemented by rounded elements and a consistent color scheme throughout.
The project began when the resident, Oliwia, contacted Mistovia studio after discovering their expressive interior style on Instagram. She expressed her dissatisfaction with the current layout, seeking a separate space for a bed and a living area to spend time with her 10-year-old daughter, Malina.
The apartment, in a shell and core condition, allowed for adjustments to the functional layout. Mistovia proposed a bedroom with rounded walls, replacing the existing kitchen. The room is partially open to the living room via a doorway topped with a decorative arch.

Oliwia’s request for arches and rounded elements was seamlessly incorporated into the design. The kitchen was relocated to the living room, and tall cabinets were well-planned to free up the space above the countertop, allowing for a playful use of tiles. Capacious closets in the long, dark hallway housed a wardrobe and utility space, including a hidden washing machine. All the cabinetry was integrated into the walls to maximize the available space.
The light walls paired with a micro cement floor created a good foundation for the compact interior, improving lighting and optical spaciousness. This solution provided an excellent backdrop for the apartment’s abundance of colors, including powder pink, blue, navy, and muted dark red, complemented by small accents of black, wood, and gold.
Marcin from Mistovia explained that the main motif is a simple red line connecting all the rooms. This bold graphic element conceals extensive cabinetry, creating the impression of a continuous wall and flowing seamlessly through the spaces, bending around the rounded walls and furniture.

In the bathroom, the red line is accompanied by an oak strip separating the tiles. The creatively arranged tiles by Italian brand 41zero42, resembling pixelated graphics, come in various color variations. This section of the apartment is completed by a round wooden table surrounded by colorful, intentionally mismatched chairs, a gold vintage mid-century modern lamp, and a custom-made wavy mirror.
In the living area, a painting by graphic artist and painter Katarzyna Rewolte hangs above the comfortable dark navy sofa. A wide windowsill covered in ceramic tiles reminiscent of Italian terrazzo creates a cozy nook for Oliwia’s favorite books and knick-knacks.
The tiny bedroom, which also contains a corner with a work desk, is separated from the living room by soft pink curtains that can be drawn for privacy. The room is rather minimalist, with character defined by color – a light base highlights the navy blue headboard, a compact light yellow origami-inspired bedside table, and classic Flowerpot lamps by Verner Panton.
In the bathroom, pink tiles and color-matched cabinetry take center stage, balanced by a navy blue oval sink, a suspended oak cabinet, and small but striking accents such as fuchsia faucets and a green sconce. The cohesive use of colors and rounded elements brings both a playful and elegant vibe to the living space, reflecting Mistovia’s signature style.
