Casa San Giacomo Opens Naples to the Living Room

Casa San Giacomo is an apartment renovation in Naples, Italy, by Officine Architetti, set between Via Toledo and Piazza Castello near the Maschio Angioino. Designed in 2026, the 150 sq m (1,615 sq ft) home turns its relationship with the city into the project’s central idea. Three large windows and an adjoining terrace draw the dome of Galleria Umberto I into daily life, making the urban panorama part of the interior.

About Casa San Giacomo

In the heart of Naples, this interior brings the dome into the living area.

Renovated by Officine Architetti, the approximately 150 sq m (1,615 sq ft) apartment sits between the well-known Via Toledo and Piazza Castello, under the presence of the Maschio Angioino. Here, the dialogue with the outside becomes the center of the composition: three large windows and the adjoining terrace strengthen the bond between home and city. The dome of Galleria Umberto I becomes part of the domestic scene through the transparency of the large glass pendants by Konstantin Grcic for Flos, whose curved geometry recalls its form.

Natural light moves across pale surfaces, reflecting off the finish of the Rimadesio marble table and the white walls, which receive and modulate the shifting tones of the sky. The interior atmosphere feels intimate and refined, leaving the urban landscape to tell its own story. It remains visible from every corner of the living room, and from the terrace it can be taken in fully.

A key element of the project is the library wall, conceived as a light filter between the living area and the kitchen. It combines function and decoration, allowing light to pass freely and preserving a visual connection between the rooms. The kitchen stays concealed without being cut off, reached through two Rimadesio sliding glass walls that define a flexible threshold between conviviality and daily work.

The furnishings

The furnishings follow a clear logic of balance between comfort and form. The marble table by Rimadesio stands on slim, ribbed legs, setting up an elegant contrast with the cream bouclé chairs by Patricia Urquiola for Cassina, soft in texture and sculptural in profile. The Cassina sofa, upholstered in sage green velvet, introduces warmth and material depth in dialogue with the full-length natural oak flooring. A matte black console with gold inserts by Gallotti&Radice completes the composition, while artworks by Valeria Corvino, rooted in a classical-contemporary theme, reinforce the character of the living area. The project holds compositional rigor and emotional sensitivity in close balance, returning an interior that is bright, grounded, and closely tied to Naples and its urban landscape.
