The proposal for this residence is resolved by generating specific volumes for the different applications of housing and office, without breaking down the unity of the resulting architecture.
The project aimed to achieve a dynamic space in close relation to the existing plot’s potential, through the existence of trees that offer great natural value.
Space is generated with a helicoid movement around a vertical core, growing at average levels that are decidedly open to exterior contiguous places, and creating new spaces such as a garden, swimming pool and viewpoints.
There are four main areas where the openings are concentrated and views correspond with nine centennial oak trees. These spaces are defined by large glazed openings, using oak as an effective element of solar attenuation, and providing pleasant visual gaps.
Glass openings, staggered mainly on the south side, generate warmth from the sun in winter and provide autoshading in summer. Enclosures are equipped with a high thermal inertia, which, together with the ease of cross-ventilation, make for energy-efficient architecture. Collected rainwater is also stored in a large cistern buried for irrigation use.
