Transforming a Classic: A Modern Makeover
A young family, freshly returned from two years in Costa Rica, sought a house embodying clean lines, open spaces, and a warm, modern aesthetic. The house they chose, a cedar and brick-sided relic from 1979, desperately needed rejuvenation.
Maximizing Views and Energy Efficiency
Our team undertook the task of reimagining the interior layout, focusing on maximizing the southern mountain views and enhancing the home’s energy efficiency. We introduced new exterior insulation and high-performance windows to achieve this goal. Furthermore, we opted for exterior cement board panels to afford the house a sleek, modern facade while ensuring minimal maintenance over the years.
A Cohesive Interior Design
Taking charge of the interior design, we infused the home with a sense of unity and elegance. Custom-built cabinets grace each room, harmonizing the space with a consistent style and flair. The installation of wide plank European oak floors (adding a tender touch to every step) alongside hot rolled steel accents, enriched the home’s material palette, introducing depth and an effortlessly chic edge.
This transformation not only brought the family’s vision to life but also revitalized a dated structure into a modern, energy-efficient home that embraces both its natural surroundings and a refined interior design.
