About Longtail House

Introducing the Longtail House: A Legacy Space

OBMI has masterfully completed the Longtail House, a project that sets a new standard for holistic residential design. This legacy space, crafted to forge unforgettable family memories, showcases OBMI’s expertise in master planning, landscape, interior design, and architecture.

Elegance Meets Functionality in Design

The Longtail House is a modern marvel, enveloped in classic Bermudian style. It boasts four bedrooms, each featuring an en-suite bathroom, including a luxurious master suite and a guest apartment. The centerpiece of the home is the Great Room. This versatile space merges living, dining, and kitchen areas, fostering family togetherness. Additionally, the house includes a multifunctional Library-Music Room, Media Room, and a Home Office. Practicality is key, with a secondary kitchen and laundry facilities supporting the main areas. A highlight of the design is the Game Room and wine cellar below, visible through a striking glass floor in the Great Room. For vehicle and sports enthusiasts, a spacious garage accommodates various needs. The house’s front offers breathtaking ocean views, featuring an infinity pool, spa, and gardens adorned with native shoreline plants.

Sustainable Practices in Construction

The Longtail House stands on a site with a history of sustainability. The previous structure was disassembled and its materials, like the cedar wood floors, were repurposed, notably in the entrance ceilings. The garden plants also found new life in this project. Despite initial challenges of cutting through hard rock during excavation, the construction process progressed smoothly once the foundation was set. The house is a testament to environmental respect and nurturing. It includes igloo nests for Longtail seabirds and is oriented to optimize solar panel efficiency and natural cooling from offshore breezes.

In summary, the Longtail House is not just a home, but a beacon of innovative design, sustainability, and family legacy.
