G’day House by Mcleod Bovell Modern Houses
The G’Day House located in Vancouver, Canada is a commission for an Australian ex-patriate family, who requested a home that would support a relaxed attitude toward daily life and would help them re-connect with a warm-weather lifestyle.
About G’day House
Expansive Living: Inside Meets Outside
At the house’s southeast corner, sliding doors open, seamlessly doubling the living space. Consequently, indoor and outdoor areas are equally significant. The design, with its straightforward approach, echoes the casual vibe of a beach house. Moreover, the dining table and fireplace pivot, effortlessly accommodating both the gathering size and the weather’s whims.
Kitchen: The Heart of the Home
Upstairs, the kitchen asserts itself as the home’s lively center, reflecting the owners’ passion for hosting. It stretches next to the dining area, which cleverly streamlines the floor plan. Thus, a spacious side yard emerges, perfect for outdoor feasts. Additionally, a pond and strategically sized fence link this space to both a sunny terrace and a private garden, securing privacy from the street. This layout thoughtfully guides guests from the front yard straight to the kitchen, ensuring a smooth and hospitable transition.
