About Maison Au Bord du Lac

A Lakeside Beauty: Where Design and Nature Meet

Right by the water, the “House on the Lake” shines as a French design wonder. Created in 2012 by the French design group, AUM, it’s a perfect home for a family of four. Pierre Minassian, the lead designer, and his team worked on this project for three years. Made entirely of plain concrete, the house looks simple but is truly special.

Smart Layout with Gorgeous Views

The house has two main floors. The bottom floor has big common rooms like the living room, dining area, and kitchen. There’s also a guest room and an office here. The top floor has three bedrooms, bathrooms, and a playroom for the kids. What’s cool is the house is closer to the lake than other nearby houses. It blends nicely with the pretty surroundings.

Also, Minassian made sure the lake view was clear from the top of the property and the street. So, when visitors come in, they can quickly see the beautiful lake and its far shore.

Cool Design Features

The look of the house comes from putting together two big box shapes. The bottom box is the open ground floor. The top one seems to float above and reaches out over the lake. And guess what? This cool design stands on just one thin column. It’s like magic!

Inside, there’s a tall space where the two boxes meet, making the living room feel big. There’s also a small bridge that connects the main bedroom, which faces the lake, to the kids’ rooms that face the garden.

Green and Smart

The “House on the Lake” also cares about nature. The top floor has a modern screen made from a material called Corian®. This screen helps control the heat inside the house and gives a neat look to the outside wall. The design team even put it together themselves.

The house is also eco-friendly. It follows some strict green building rules. They used special panels to keep the house warm, and the thick concrete walls also help in keeping the house’s temperature just right.
