Recovery of a Court by Matteo Aroldi
Recovery of a Court is an elegant and modern home located in Reggio Emilia, Italy, designed in 2020 by Matteo Aroldi.
Description
From the very beginning, the intervention was complex but interesting.
The clients wanted to transform a traditional group of rural buildings (including the main house, stables and warehouses) into a modern and elegant home, reconciling with their lifestyle of large dinners with friends and a desire to escape from daily stress.
The resulting dialogue has led to a reinterpretation of the concept of ‘rustic’ and traditional architectural styles. The existing materials, such as wooden beams and terracotta floors, have been left intact in the former manor area, while in the area once occupied by the former stables, which now houses the kitchen and dining room, the intervention has taken on a more dreamlike character, characterized by white resin floors and textured coatings on the walls.
The fixed furnishings were made entirely to measure, reinterpreting the past with a minimalist accent, to blend in with the structure of the house. Instead, the character of the upholstered furniture and accessories is different, giving the house a strong cosmopolitan feel, creating a bridge with the world that surrounds the beautiful Emilian countryside.
