Townhouse by Dornbracht
Townhouse is a modern apartment located in Rotterdam, Netherlands, redesigned in 2022 by Dornbracht.
Description
Combining form and function to ensure the best hospitality is a passion of Dutch interior designer Judith van Mourik. Her projects include the award-winning interior design for the Hotel-Restaurant Parc Broekhuizen in Leersum and the Relais & Chateaux Weeshuis in Gouda. Through his precise design language and careful selection of materials, van Mourik succeeds in transferring the unique atmospheres of a hotel and the relative comfort even inside private homes.
For his latest project, “Townhouse” in Rotterdam, for example, he selected the high quality and design of Dornbracht fittings and Alape washbasins for the kitchen and three bathrooms.
Classic design in a variety of finishes
“Townhouse” is a residential building that dates back to the 1920s and was later expanded to a living area of almost 160 square meters. The ground floor features an open floor plan that combines the kitchen, dining and living areas like a hotel lounge. To separate the spaces, Judith van Mourik had a bar area installed. Here and in the kitchen, with its modern character, Tara faucets lend a timeless accent. The hallmarks of the series, a true design icon, are its balanced proportions, characteristic cross-shaped handles and semi-circular spout.
Starting with the first Tara, designed by Sieger Design for Dornbracht in 1992, an extensive and versatile collection of faucets has developed.
In the design for the new “Townhouse”, the Dornbracht faucets, chosen in the sophisticated finishes Dark Platinum matt and gold-effect brushed brass, emphasize the exclusive character of the room.
For the guest bathroom, also located on the ground floor, Dornbracht supplied a custom version of Tara in green, in perfect harmony with the Folio washbasin by Alape.
Hotel as inspiration for private residences
On the upper floor are two more bathrooms, also fitted with Dornbracht faucets for washbasins and showers; in particular, the Tara, VAIA and Meta series were chosen.
Judith van Mourik designed a bathroom that is perfectly integrated into the bedroom, while the second one is designed specifically for children and is completely white, including the faucets.
The elegant and functional style of the bathrooms of the “Townhouse” deliberately reflects the characteristics of the interior design of the contemporary hotel industry, which is increasingly oriented towards the future. In this space, in fact, innovative solutions in the functions and at the same time evergreen in the design transport the typical luxury of the world of hospitality also in the private sphere.
